Financial Leadership Association

Welcome to the Financial Leadership Association!

The Financial Leadership Association at UT Dallas is a premier student organization, with hundreds of active members and alumni, which focuses on increasing awareness and respect in the academic and professional financial community for our members by promoting a strong learning environment and networking opportunities. We foster a learning environment through a series of finance workshops, intra-university competitions, site visits to top businesses, and guest speaker events. We provide networking opportunities by working closely with the School of Management faculty, the UTD Career Center, and the Student Union & Activities Advisory Board (SUABB).

We invite you to attend our first general meeting that will be held on Wednesday, January 27th from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. in room SOM 1.502.

We are offering a variety of programs and events for our members in the Spring semester of 2010 which include:

Basic Finance Workshop

These workshops will focus on training new members, especially undergraduates, on basic knowledge of finance and trading techniques in order for the new members to be able to participate in competitions. We had strong interest from members in the Fall 09' semester and will be gauging what the demand is for the spring at the first general meeting, which will be held on Wednesday, January 27th from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. in room SOM 1.502.

Dollars & Sense Speaker Events

The FLA invites guest speakers from various industries to come and talk to students about their investing experience and tips for managing investments. We are currently in the planning stages for the spring events. Time and dates TBA, check back soon!

Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF)

SMIF analysts are currently working with Dr. Cordell to finish the preparations needed to launch our school's first real money fund. Check out the SMIF section of our website by clicking here or by clicking the SMIF section in the menu bar at the top of this page. If you are interested in participating or would like more details, please e-mail SMIF@flautd.com. Our first SMIF meeting for spring 09's will be held right after our first general meeting on Wednesday, January 27th from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. in room SOM 1.502.

CFA-IRC Competition: Shadow Team

The CFA Investment Research Challenge (IRC) hosted by the CFA Society of DFW and the CFA Society of Houston is underway! The candidates for the competition have already been chosen. However, if you are interested in being a part of the shadow team where you will perform your own analysis then please contact Vice_president@flautd.com.
